Kill Bill: Vol. II

Saturday, December 12, 2015, 8 p.m., Dryden Theatre

(Quentin Tarantino, US 2004, 137 min., 35mm)

Quentin and Uma. Roger Ebert wrote, “Put the two parts together, and Tarantino has made a masterful saga that celebrates the martial arts genre while kidding it, loving it, and transcending it.” Originally conceived as one film and divided for length, the Kill Bill saga follows a former assassin bride who is violently attacked on her wedding day and wakes from a coma to the realization that she has lost the child she was carrying and everyone that she loved. If Vol. 1 is homage to the action of samurai, kung fu, and yakuza genres, Vol. 2 is homage to the drama and the impossible, incredible ridiculousness of the storylines.
