[--The Army in India: 1850-1914--, p. 35] In the book, --The Army in India, 1850-1914--, Sir Claude Auchinleck states, "In March 1858 [Major-General Colin] Campbell with a force of some 25,000 men recaptured Lucknow from the rebels - but with heavy loss. It was on this march that the photographer Felice Beato took his photographs." [p. 26]
