NOTES: Catalogued 10/2001, DZ. "The scene captured in the print is a moment in early 20th century French provincial life. Two market women have set up their barrows at a street corner. A trolley pulls up diagonally behind them, as passers by walk towards and away from the camera. It is a well rendered Pictorial composition, quite atmospheric, and blue toned, blue being the favorite color of the Pictorialist school. In all, this is a significant document of yet another facet of Gabriel Cromer, this time of Cromer the artist." [Therese Mulligan, 7/2001]
